TSW SiteSync 2.02 released

August 2, 2009

I'm pleased to announced the second maintenance release of TSW SiteSync 2. It comes with the following changes:

  • An exclusion rule could in very specific conditions be ignored.
  • Accelerator keys were added to toolbar buttons with text in the application.
  • Enter and Backspace were added as shortcuts in the FTP Client. Enter will open a folder or edit a file, and backspace will go one level up, just like in Windows Explorer.
  • In Watch mode, a timeout was not always detected, resulting in SiteSync trying to transfer the files with a broken connection.
  • The Passive mode setting were sometimes not saved for a site.

To upgrade, simply go to the SiteSync product page and download the application. Install it on top of the previous version, that should cause no problems. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us.

TSW SiteSync 2.0 released

September 30, 2008

I'm very happy to announce that the final version of TSW SiteSync 2.0 has just been released. You can download it from the SiteSync product page, where you can also find all the usual cool screenshots and a complete feature list. As promised, this is a free upgrade for all those of you who have purchased the first version of SiteSync. You can simply install version 2 and it will use the same license key as version 1. Have a look at this blog post for more information on all the new things in SiteSync 2.0.

I wish to thank the betatesters for their effort. Especially Mobleman and iosoftgame, who I would like to offer a free license to either WebCoder or phpCoder together with SiteSync 2.0, for their extensive help in testing this release. amews_aj gets a free SiteSync 2.0 license for doing such a nice Danish translation - I hope all of you will help localize SiteSync into other languages :)

Enjoy SiteSync 2.0 :)

TSW SiteSync 2.0 final beta 1 released

August 25, 2008

The first final beta release of SiteSync 2.0 now comes with real documentation. Any feedback on this is appreciated as well :). The amount of bugs discovered in the last couple of versions has been pretty minimal, so I have focused a lot on improving the localization process, in preparation of implementing in it phpCoder 2008 next. The localization editor has been improved, SiteSync should now make all of it's controls available for translation, and a new localization area at tswusers.net has been prepared. I hope that you will all share your localization work as much as possible. Also, a new menu item in SiteSync makes it possible to easily browse and download language files. If there are any problems with all the new stuff I've added, then be sure to let me know. I would like to mention once again, that new language files will be rewarded with a free TSW SiteSync commercial license.

As mentioned in the first beta post, free licenses will be given to the best betatesters for either TSW WebCoder 2007 or TSW phpCoder 2008 as well as SiteSync 2.0, once the final version has been released.

Please be aware that this is beta software. It's meant for testing only, and if you don't feel comfortable using software with known bugs and quirks, you should wait for the final version.

TSW SiteSync 2.0 beta 3 released – now with localization!

August 13, 2008

During the last couple of weeks, I have been working on implementing localization in SiteSync 2.0. I built the localization system from scratch, so it fits the TSW applications the best, and may later be implemented in TSW phpCoder and TSW WebCoder. This means that SiteSync can be easily translated into other languages, and I hope that you will all help me by doing just that. This whole localization thing is still very much beta, but I have tested it quite a bit, and it should be stable enough for you to do the same. Once SiteSync goes into final, I will be happy to give away free licenses in exchange for proper language files, so this is your chance to get a head start on it :)

First of all, you need the latest beta version of SiteSync from the link below. Besides the new localization system, it includes a range of bug fixes, found in beta 2. You also need the new TSW Localization Editor, which can be found below as well. The editor includes a README file which explains how to localize the application. To test it, SiteSync 2.0 beta 3 comes with a new Settings button in the main interface, which lets you change the language. It simply lists the files found in the new "languages" folder, so please put your test language file in there. Right now, it's all very simple - you can change the language, but only for the current session. The next time you start SiteSync, the language will be English, but you can't change back to the default language in the middle of a session. This will all be a bit more polished for the final version, but it will do for testing purposes :)

As mentioned, the localization part is still very much beta, so feel free to suggest improvements to the Localization Editor and the localization process as well.

TSW SiteSync 2.0 beta 1 released

July 11, 2008

I'm very proud to announce the first beta version of the upcoming TSW SiteSync 2.0. As mentioned in a previous blog post, this version includes a big number of changes. A lot of the very important parts of the application has been re-written, to support SFTP and FTPS as well as regular FTP, and to gain a more responsive interface. This means that we need a thorough betatesting, which is why I would like to promise a number of free commercial licenses to the best betatesters of SiteSync 2.0. Since WebCoder/phpCoder and SiteSync are such fine partners, the free licenses will cover either TSW WebCoder 2007 or TSW phpCoder 2008 as well as SiteSync 2.0.

I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think of it! This is the first version, so besides finding bugs, be sure to look for things that you would like to see implemented before the final version - I'm open for suggestions :)

TSW SiteSync 2.0

July 1, 2008

This blog post is all about the next version of TSW SiteSync. I'm almost done with my TODO list, which turned out to be quite long. This is a list of the changes I have made so far:

Most important changes

  • Support for FTP, SFTP and FTPS throughout the entire application
  • More responsive interface - no more frozen dialogs
  • Transfers, comparisons and synchronizations can now be canceled
  • Watch mode now supports auto-sync and can be minimized to the Windows notification area
  • Built-in support for testing wildcard and regular expression based exclusion rules against the files of your site
  • Find files for upload dialog - quickly find a specific set of files for upload, based on their filename or their last modified date
  • Updated FTP client, with more informative interface and a transfer queue
  • The final version will have real documentation, as seen in WebCoder and phpCoder

Minor changes

  • More stable transfers. SiteSync will try to ignore non-fatal errors and just continue with the next file, and try to automatically re-connect when a sudden disconnection happens
  • See which exclusion rule were applied to a specific file or folder
  • Filter exclusion rules can now be imported from other SiteSync sites
  • See properties for remote files and folders (including subfiles and subfolders) in the FTP client
  • The synchronization dialog now supports doing only downloading or only uploading for a single session, for a two-way site
  • Filter options in the exclusion rule dialog - show only files or only folders, for a better overview
  • Same application for easy access to application and settings directory as introduced in phpCoder 2008 version 1.01
  • Same technology for logging errors as introduced in phpCoder 2008 version 1.02
  • A list of minor bugs have been fixed, found by me and a number of dedicated SiteSync users (thank you!)

This is what I have so far, besides the things that are too small to mention. If all goes well, I will have the first beta version ready for you guys pretty soon. If you have any suggestions, then be sure to let me know :)

Next up: A new version of TSW SiteSync

June 8, 2008

I just want to let you all know what's currently going on here at TSW. After a long period where phpCoder was the absolute main focus, it's good to finally have it out. I used last week to get out the first maintenance release, and I'm currently writing down things to fix/change for version 1.02 :). This week I've started something that I've been looking forward to for quite a while now: A new version of TSW SiteSync. I already had a list of at least 20 things I wanted to do with it, both small and big things, with several of the suggestions coming from various users of SiteSync. The biggest change will be more responsiveness. People have been complaining that it locks up too much when working, and I'm dedicated to making this a much more smooth experience. As I work on this, I keep finding small things that I wish to change, so my TODO list has already grown quite a bit. Despite that, I hope to have a beta version out within the next couple of months. There will be lots of changes, so I will once again need the help of some talented betatesters. More about that once I have an actual beta version ready :)

While big parts of this new version will be re-written from scratch, I'm still not sure whether it should be a major release, or just SiteSync 1.10 or something like that. I do have one thing decided already though: This will be a free upgrade for existing SiteSync customers, no matter if it was purchased along with WebCoder/phpCoder or as a stand alone purchase.

I will try to post more information about this new version of SiteSync soon - stay tuned :)
